The Just Do 2! Campaign is designed to increase the presence of RD's in our community in order to promote ourselves as the primary source of nutrition information to the public and private sectors.  We are asking each of our members to volunteer only 2 hours of their time.  You can volunteer to be a part of any nutrition-related activity to benefit our community or to help with the efforts of our governing bodies (e.g. ADA, NCDA, or CDA).  Some general ideas are:

  • Write a letter or visit your NC representative about nutrition policy issues

  • Represent your district at the annual ADA Public Policy Workshop

  • Volunteer speaking time in your area of expertise or interest

  • Conduct a food drive at a district or state meeting or as a group

  • Represent your district at health fairs

  • Work a fundraising activity for the association

  • Serve on an ADA, NCDA or district committee

  • Introduce speakers, assist with sessions, work the bookmart or the marketing booth or serve on the planning committee for NCDA's Annual Meeting

  • Organize a fundraising 5k, or volunteer for an existing race

  • Serve on your local dietetic association board as an officer or committee chair

  • Add your name to ADA’s database for volunteers and leadership by editing

  • your ADA profile page, or by completing ADA’s opportunities to serve survey

  • Organize a district group to volunteer for Meals on Wheels

  • Set up an “Ask the RD” table during National Nutrition Month at the grocery store

  • Serve on your favorite DPG board or committee

  • Serve as an author, content advisor or reviewer for an ADA Position Paper

  • Organize a mentoring program

  • Organize a district speaker’s bureau

  • Organize a district journal or book club

  • Serve as a district association liaison on a School Health Advisory Council

  • Write articles for the NCDA newsletter or website

Don't forget to log your hours!  Why should you log your hours?  Good question.   By logging your hours:

  • You will help CDA compete against other NC district associations.  The district that gets the most members to log hours will win money to help provide products and services for their members.
  • Your employer will be sent a letter of recognition for your volunteer services. Earn some brownie points at work!
  • You will receive a certificate of appreciation from NCDA.
  • Enter a raffle to win FREE membership for the 2009-2010 CDA membership year.
